2012-13 Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX recall notice

2012-13 Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX recall notice

August 29, 2013

I received a safety recall notice in the mail today, issued by Piaggio Group Americas, Inc., whose office is in Costa Mesa, CA.

The recall affects Moto Guzzi models 2012-13 Stelvio NTX, 2012-13 Norge 8V and 2013 Griso 8V.

The letter states in part that the recall notice is issued in accordance with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, and the Transport Canada identification number for the recall is 2013-256.

Reason for the recall

Piaggio’s recall notice states, “In these vehicles, PGA has identified the VIN ranges of Griso 8V, Norge 8V and Stelvio NTX models where the rear suspension double connecting rod does not meet quality standards and a replacement is required.  Failure of this component affects the vehicle’s chassis and can jeopardize the stability of the motorcycle.”

Piaggio says the recall will be completed by your local dealer at no cost to the customer for parts and labour, and the repair will take about 1 hour.

I’ve already contacted my dealership to order the part(s).
