2014 BMW R1200RT – 9th tank of fuel, economy on the run home from Montana

I filled up the RT yesterday.  This is the 9th tank of fuel used on our five-day tour to the United States.

Now, we have the fuel economy numbers for the last leg of our 3100 km tour on our new 2014 BMW R1200RT.

Fuel economy for the last leg of our  tour took us from the Esso (Exxon to American readers) on the QE2 at Crossfield, AB to Edmonton’s west end.

  • Average speed, with cruise control:  118-119 km/h (GPS indicated), 122-123 km/h (digital speedometer indicated)
  • Distance traveled, Crossfield, AB to Edmonton, AB:  258 km
  • Fuel consumed:  11.70 L premium unleaded (Ess0)
  • Fuel economy:  4.53 L/100 km, 63.3 imperial mpg, 51.9 U.S. mpg

For a large touring motorcycle – or ANY motorcycle for that matter – the R1200RT’s fuel economy is outstanding, and we’re very happy campers!
