Motorcycling New Year’s Resolutions for 2016

On the eve of New Year 2016, one starts thinking about New Year’s resolutions.  Personally, I think such resolutions are a waste of time.

Then I began thinking about New Year’s resolutions having to do with motorcycling.  Now there’s a part of life where I can aspire to do better.

So, for my motorcycle riding friends, here is some food for thought. . .

Tim’s motorcycle-related New Year’s resolutions.

In 2016, I resolve to:

  1. Increase my traffic safety vigilance while riding my motorcycle.  That means watching out for other vehicles, expecting drivers to do the unexpected, and always planning an ‘escape’ route
  2. Avoid ‘distracted driving.’  That means absolutely avoiding changing settings on the hard- (for me) to-read Navigator V GPS and only using the RT’s ‘Wonder Wheel’ when the bike is stopped or on flat, straight roads with no traffic.
  3. Stay in higher quality motels.  Thanks to my friend Richard, staying in low priced motels where you’re afraid to take your boots off inside your room is a no-go for 2016.  I was raised to be a penny-pincher, but life is too short to endure sketchy motels.  In 2016, I’ll live it up.

What are your 2016 New Year’s resolutions?
