Subaru has released images of this edgy-styled Impreza concept car at Toronto’s Canadian International Auto Show.

Could this be the all-new-for 2017 Impreza?  We’re guessing ‘yes!’

Examine Subaru’s photo closely and the car looks close to production ready.

The concept car features the Impreza’s familiar hexagonal grille, but the ‘face’ of the sedan is more aggressive with deeper, sculpted lines and what Subaru is calling ‘hawk-eye’ headlights.

The only design elements we see that wouldn’t make it to production are the stylish but very slim side mirrors and the 19-in. wheel/tire combo (which would be appropriate sizing for the high performance WRX/WRX STi, but not the bread and butter versions.)

Subaru has even provided the main dimensions of the so-called ‘concept’ car.  The concept car is lower, wider but about the same overall length as the current 2016 Impreza.

Concept car dimensions (vs 2016 Impreza)

Length:  4,555 mm (vs 4,585 mm)

Width:  1,880 mm (vs 1,740 mm)

Height:  1.453 mm (vs 1,465 mm)

Having just tested the superb, all-new 2016 Honda Civic Touring (with turbocharged 1.4-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine and CVT transmission – a full road test will be posted soon), Subaru will have to burn the midnight oil to produce a new Impreza that comes close to matching the Civic’s superb handling, on-road feel and outstanding fuel economy.
