Bob’s Burger & Brew, Burlington, WA

Possibly the best burger from a sitdown chain restaurant?

Possibly the best burger from a sitdown chain restaurant?

I’m a food snob, so when it comes to the so-called ‘chain’ restaurants, I avoid them like the plague.

But there are exceptions to this rule.  Regular visitors know I love the Jaker’s Bar & Grill, an upscale steakhouse with locations across Montana and Idaho.

We’ve found yet another ‘chain’ eatery where the superb food makes the restaurant another rule breaker.

On a trip to Kingston, WA (across the water from Seattle) to have Rich’s Custom Saddles build a new saddle for my BMW R1200RT, on our return to Edmonton, we ‘discovered’ Bob’s Burger & Brew  in Burlington, WA.  Located on Old Highway 99, Bob’s was conveniently located across the parking lot of our motel.

Inside Bob’s, the restaurant is clean and modern with what I’d call a typical, mid-price American restaurant decor.  There’s nothing fancy here, and you’ll feel comfortable getting off your motorcycle and sitting down at a table.

One has to wonder, just how can a restaurant mess up a burger?  The sad truth is that many eateries screw up the basic, American burger royally.

NOT Bob’s!  My bacon burger came as one of those massive burgers, piled high with thick, smoked bacon slices, American cheese, pickles, lettuce and tomato – loaded, just the way I like ’em.  I use the flat of my hand to press the top of the bun down trying to squish the burger to a manageable size to take a bite, but one just has to bite at the edges and work your way through it.

There’s no physical way to open your mouth wide enough to consume the delectable burger in the ‘normal’ way.  The side dish of chili was good and a nice somewhat ‘lighter’ choice than the typical fries.

I didn’t have high expectations when we walked into Bob’s, but came away VERY impressed.  Bob’s serves up one of the very best restaurant burgers I’ve had, and would definitely return.

Bob’s Burgers & Brew was a very nice ‘find’ on our recent trip to Washington State, and highly recommended.
