Today is Chinese New Year, so Gung Hay Fat Choy to everybody!

This is the Year of the Rooster.  If you were born in 2017, 2005, 1993, etc. (it’s a 12-year cycle), then you are a Rooster according to Chinese astrology.

So, if you are turning 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 this year, it is likely an auspicious and ‘lucky’ year for you.

According to Chinese custom, to help bring good luck to you and your household in the new year, you are supposed to clear your financial debts and give ‘lucky money’ to your unmarried relatives.  This is customarily done by giving money in a hung bau (a red envelope – red is the colour of ‘good fortune’ to the Chinese.)

For everybody, this is a chance to get together with family and dine out on Chinese food!

Happy new year!  We wish you good health and prosperity in this Year of the Rooster.
