Long story short:  I bought this 1977 Montesa Cota 247T Trail bike new off the showroom floor of European Motorcycles in Calgary, AB. in 1978.

I rode it a few years and damaged it moderately off road riding, bending the handlebars, breaking the headlight lens and pranging the front alloy metal fender.  A pair of twins came along, and the poor Montesa languished in the shed patiently awaiting refurbishment.

Thanks to my friend Harry, the old Montesa’s refurbishment is almost complete.

Harry’s banged out and polished the front fender, found a replacement headlight lens, replaced the original ‘surgical rubber’ beige hand grips, front fork gaiters, clutch and brake lever rubber covers, folded rubber licence plate holder, and fork seals.  He’s spooned on a set of fresh Pirelli trials tires and inner tubes and checked the 2-stroke engine’s seals and gave them and says they’re just fine.

The Cota 247T’s odometer shows an original 392 miles.  According to one online Montesa website, only 2300 Cota 247T Trail motorcycles were ever produced.
