Epicurean tourism – random thoughts

The Blue Canoe in Stevetson, BC is one of the numerous memorable eateries we enjoyed during our road trip to Canada’s West Coast

Some of my friends laugh at me, because a main attractor when I travel is the variety of new restaurants I can potentially discover.

Having said that, there are other of my friends who are hard core, dyed-in-the-wool foodies who celebrate our passion for finding the unique, quirky, special, ‘you-can-only-find-this-dish-here’ kind of restaurants.

After a two-week road trip between Edmonton and  Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, and the various stops on the way home, we found a good number of ‘special’ restaurants.

Off the top of my head, here is what we found, and I’ll do a more, in-depth post on them soon.

In no particular order, some of the most memorable restaurant meals were enjoyed at (in no particular order):

  • The Whitespot Restaurant, Kamloops, BC (you read that right.  Just wait for the full story on the exceptional meal we had there.  You’ll be surprised!)
  • The Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant, Steveston, BC
  • La Stella Trattoria, Nanaimo, BC
  • The Clam Bucket Restaurant, Port Alberni, BC
  • Spinnakers Brew Pub, Victoria, BC
  • Quail’s Gate Winery,West Kelowna, BC
  • Jerusalem Shawarma, Calgary, AB
  • Ozeki Japanese Restaurant, Kelowna, BC
  • Fishook, Victoria, BC
  • Nubo Japanese Tapas, Victoria, BC
  • Penny Farthing Pub, Victoria, BC
  • Little Yunan Restaurant, Victoria, BC
