Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus Motorcycle Cover – review

Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus (size XL) motorcycle cover provides heavy duty, waterproof protection for outdoor storage. Shown on a ’19 Honda Gold Wing Tour (with topcase)

Not everyone has the luxury of a 3-car garage or a multi-bay workshop in which we can store motorcycles out of the weather when we’re not riding.

When I bought the GL1800 Gold Wing in June, 2019, I was using a battered, weather beaten 11 year old Nelson-Riggs half cover. The purchase of the new Honda prompted me to acquire better protection for the bike while it sat in the driveway. There’s no room for the bike in our double-attached garage.

After some online research, I settled on the Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus, size XL.

I use the Guardian Weatherall Plus only as a cover when the bike’s at home. It’s a heavy duty cover, much too bulky and heavy to carry on tour.

It’s the cover’s ‘heavy duty’ attributes that makes it an affordable, albeit still pricey, alternative, to, say, building a shed or adding on to the existing garage.

Features

Dowco advertizes the Weatherall Plus as being waterproof. It is. The cover has a nylon strap and buckle system to secure the sides of the cover under the bike to keep it in place in windy conditions.

Air vent on the left side of the waterproof cover allows moisture trapped under the cover to escape
Slots let the cover and front wheel to be secured together with a U-lock or cable lock

Another nice touch is the soft, felt liner sewn into the inside of the cover to protect the windshield. Finally, Dowco claims aluminized shields allow use immediately after riding.

The cover comes with a storage bag.

All in all, I’m happy with the cover. Size XL fits my ’19 Honda Gold Wing DCT Tour generously. There’s plenty of room to spare.

Street price for the Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus motorcycle cover is about $155.00 Cdn.
